The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information is thrilled to announce an exciting new initiative under its Tourism Education Portfolio: The Souvenir Design Contest!
This contest aims to inspire and celebrate the creative talents of Secondary School students ages 13-17, providing a unique platform to showcase their artistic abilities while connecting with their national heritage.
The contest is designed to enhance the availability of locally made, unique craft items for cruise visitors, promoting Saint Lucia’s rich culture and creativity. Under the theme “Pride in Every Piece: Celebrating Saint Lucia’s Treasures,” students are encouraged to create designs which embody national pride and highlight our country's unique cultural and natural attributes.
Contest Details
Eligibility: Students ages 13-17 (preferably with an interest in the Arts)
Submission Theme: “Pride in Every Piece: Celebrating Saint Lucia’s Treasures”
Registration Deadline: 18th October, 2024
Workshop for Registrants: 29th October, 2024
Souvenir Submission Deadline: 18th November, 2024
This initiative not only aims to foster creativity but will also instill a sense of pride and appreciation for Saint Lucia's heritage among young artists. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn, grow, and have their work showcased as a testament to their talent.
The competition winner will receive a cash prize of EC$2,500, while the second and third place participants will be awarded EC$1,500 and EC$1,000, respectively. The winners will also receive brand new electronic devices. Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism, with the support of various sector partners, will offer production and marketing assistance for the winning pieces.
