Official Visit by Nigerian President Reaffirms Saint Lucia’s Commitment to Deepening Ties with African Nations and Global South Community

ON JUNE 29, 2025, PRIME MINISTER HON. PHILIP J. PIERRE RECEIVED THE PRESIDENT AND HIS DELEGATION AT THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICIAL RESIDENCE IN VIGIE, CASTRIE
The official visit of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, to Saint Lucia heralds a new dawn for bilateral cooperation between our nations and advances the government’s pursuit of strategic diplomatic partnerships with African countries in the Global South community.

On June 29, 2025, Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre received the President and his delegation at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Vigie, Castries, for brief discussions on areas of common interests with the Minister for External Affairs, Hon. Alva Baptiste and High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Anthony Severin.

On Monday, June 30, 2025, the President will address a Special Joint Sitting of Parliament and subsequently meet with OECS Heads of Government for a high-level meeting at the Sandal Grande Hotel on the Pigeon Island Causeway in Gros-Islet.

President Tinubu’s official visit to Saint Lucia aligns with the government’s renewed focus on cultivating meaningful diplomatic relations and deepening our bonds with countries that share common historical linkages.

The Pierre-led Administration continues to enhance our foreign policy agenda to strengthen cooperation with Nigeria and other African nations in the Global South community on climate resilience, sustainable development, technology, trade and economic development.
